Pairs well with and recommendations
Three ways to suggest more products: the Pairs well with block in the product details, the Product recommendations section (related or complementary products), and the Recently viewed section.
Before you start
Choose complementary products for each product with Shopify's Search & Discovery app.
How to set it up
Step 1: Pairs well with
- In the Second column, add Pairs well with and set the maximum number of products. It stays hidden until the product has complementary products.
Step 2: Product recommendations
- Click Product recommendations below the product, or add it.
- Choose the Type (1): related products (generated by Shopify) or complementary products, and the Layout (2): carousel or grid.
Step 3: Recently viewed
- Add Recently viewed. It shows the products a customer viewed most recently on this device, and stays hidden until they have viewed a product.

How it works
- With Theme settings > Privacy > Wait for consent, recently viewed products are only kept after the visitor accepts cookies.
