Manual pre-order

Radian includes a preorder product template for simple pre-orders: the buyer pays the full price at checkout, and the product shows a Pre-order badge and a Pre-order now button. The badge also shows on the cart line.

How to set it up

Step 1: Assign the template

1. In Shopify Admin, open Products and select the product.
2. In the Theme template field, choose preorder.
3. Save the product.

Step 2: Set the quantity you can take

1. For unlimited pre-orders, turn off inventory tracking, or turn on Continue selling when out of stock.
2. For a fixed number of pre-orders, track inventory, enter that number, and keep Continue selling when out of stock off. When it reaches 0, the product shows as sold out.

Step 3: Style the badge

1. Go to Theme settings > Product badges > Preorder to set the badge text and color (1).

How it works

• The template collects the full price at checkout. It doesn't create a deposit, a later payment or a ship date. For those, use a pre-order app with Shopify selling plans; Radian then shows the plan name as a Purchase option badge.
• A hidden _manual_preorder property keeps the pre-order state on the cart line without showing an extra row to buyers.
• The preorder template has the same sections as the default product template; edit it from Products > preorder in the theme editor page picker.
