Choosing a theme is one of the first real decisions for a clothing brand on Shopify. It sets how your photography is shown, how shoppers find a size and color, and how much you pay in apps later. We compared 13 themes from the Clothing category of the Shopify Theme Store so you can shortlist faster.
Disclosure: Radian, the first theme on this list, is made by us at Axiom Themes. Every other theme is from another developer. Prices, presets and review scores come from each theme's Theme Store listing and were checked in October 2026; they can change.

Paid themes on the Theme Store are a one-time purchase per store, with free updates, and every theme can be tried for free in your own store before you buy.
How we picked these themes
We started from page 1 of the Theme Store's Clothing category, sorted by relevance, and left out themes marked New, which have too little track record to judge. For each theme we read the listing (price, presets, review score and the feature list Shopify shows) and opened the demo store on desktop and on a phone.
We also looked at what the best clothing demos have in common. Across 18 home page demos, the median page had 17 sections and was about 13,000 pixels tall. Most showed products by the second or third section, alternated editorial images with product rows, ran a single promotion, and ended with reviews, a journal and a newsletter sign-up. Those patterns are a good test for any theme you consider.
The 13 best Shopify themes for clothing stores
1. Radian: best for editorial fashion brands that sell complete looks

Radian is our theme, so take this one with that in mind. We built it for fashion and lifestyle labels that sell through imagery: a campaign photo can carry product hotspots, a lookbook can be shopped piece by piece, and the product page can show only the photos of the color a shopper picks.
Where most themes stop at the basics, Radian covers the things clothing stores usually install apps for: per-product size guides, gift wrapping, bundles and upsells, a pre-order template, and quantity pricing with a quick order list for wholesale buyers.
Standout features
- Shoppable hero and Shop the look: hotspots on campaign images open the product with quick buy. See Shop the look.
- Variant media groups: show only the selected color's images, grouped by variant image or alt text. See Variant media groups.
- Size guides and custom options: a size chart per product, plus text, date and file options. See How to make a size guide.
- Selling tools without apps: bundles, upsells, gift wrap, quantity pricing and a quick order list for wholesale. See Gift wrapping.
- Nine product media layouts: from a slideshow to collages and grids, with media that can keep each image's own shape. See Product media layouts.

What makes a good Shopify theme for clothing
Most themes look good in their demo. These are the details that decide whether a clothing store runs smoothly once real products, sizes and colors are in it.
- Images that follow the chosen color: When a shopper picks a color, the gallery should show that color. With six photos per color and ten colors, a product can have sixty images; a theme that groups media by variant keeps the page usable. Variant media groups in Radian.
- Swatches and clear stock states: Color swatches on product cards and pages, sold out sizes that are easy to spot, and ideally an option to list them last. Variants and swatches in Radian.
- Size guides: Fit questions drive returns. Look for a size chart that can differ per product rather than one chart for the whole store. Size guides in Radian.
- Shoppable imagery: Campaign photos with product hotspots and a Shop the look layout turn editorial content into sales. Shop the look in Radian.
- Quick view and quick buy: Adding a size from a collection page, without opening every product, shortens the path to the cart. Quick view in Radian.
- Filters that match how people shop clothing: Size, color, price and availability filters through the Search & Discovery app, with color swatches in the filter. Filters in Radian.
- Badges and merchandising: Clear Sale and Sold out labels, and space for your own labels such as "New" or "Limited Edition", help shoppers scan a grid. Product badges in Radian.
- Fewer apps for the basics: Gift wrap, back-in-stock requests, bundles and upsells built into the theme mean fewer monthly app fees and fewer scripts slowing the store down. Gift wrapping in Radian.
- Mobile first: Most fashion traffic is on phones. Open every demo on your phone, not only on desktop, and check the product page and the cart.
Free or paid: do you need a premium theme?
A free theme such as Horizon is enough to launch and test a clothing brand. Premium themes earn their price once the store grows: editorial sections for campaigns, deeper merchandising, built-in tools that replace apps, and a developer to answer when something breaks. Because paid themes are a one-time cost, a theme that replaces even one monthly app usually pays for itself within a year.
How to choose: a 5-minute checklist
- Shortlist two or three themes whose demo looks closest to your brand.
- Open each demo on your phone and add a product to the cart.
- Check one product with many colors and sizes: do the images follow the color, and are sold out sizes clear?
- List the apps you would need with each theme, and add up their monthly cost.
- Install your favorite as a free trial, add a few of your own products, and preview it before you buy.
Frequently asked questions
What is the best Shopify theme for a clothing store?
It depends on how you sell. For editorial fashion brands that sell complete looks, Radian, Stiletto and Blum are strong choices. For high-volume stores that run frequent sales, Impulse and Symmetry are proven options. If you are just starting out, Shopify's free Horizon theme is enough to launch.
Are free Shopify themes good enough for clothing brands?
Yes, to start. Free themes cover the basics well. Brands usually move to a premium theme when they need editorial sections, better variant handling, size guides and built-in selling tools that would otherwise need paid apps.
How much does a premium Shopify theme cost?
The paid themes in this list cost between $100 and $500. It is a one-time payment per store, and updates are free.
Can I try a Shopify theme before buying it?
Yes. Every theme on the Shopify Theme Store can be added to your store as a free trial. You can customize it and preview it with your own products, and you only pay when you publish it.
Will I lose my products if I change themes?
No. Products, collections, customers and orders stay in Shopify when you change themes. Only the theme's own settings and section layouts need to be set up again in the new theme.
Final thoughts
Every theme on this list can run a successful clothing store. Pick the one whose demo already looks closest to your brand, check it on your phone with a product that has many colors and sizes, and count the apps you will not need. If you sell through imagery and want lookbooks, shoppable photos and fashion-specific tools in one theme, try Radian.
